Miami Food Vice

If you don’t like food, this article is not for you. On the other hand, if you do like food, please stay. I am the type of person that hates falling into tourist traps when I am traveling. Wherever I go, I like to experience the food culture of that place as the locals would. I live in Miami, Florida, and am always on the hunt for the next best culinary experience. Therefore, I decided to create a Facebook group called the Miami Food Vice. The Miami Food Vice community seeks to provide one common platform for people of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to share the best food finds in the city of Miami. This community is looking to inform and be informed by other “foodies” of their genuine opinions and experiences around the Miami culinary scene. Food is a passion for many; therefore, this community will be built by food enthusiasts for them to share this passion with each other. This community will motivate members to have new experiences and try things outside of their comfort zone by immersing themselves in restaurants of different cultures, age groups, and levels of dining. From food trucks to dinners on sailboats to drinks on a forty-third floor, this community will be there to tell its members about the next best culinary experience.

Please keep in mind that this group in new to the online world as it was launched just last week, however, here are a few examples of what to expect from it. The post below was one of our very first posts in the group and it is featuring a culinary staple, tacos.

The hunt for the best Mexican food is always on, but I have found it and decided to share it. This post was part of a “Taco Tuesday” series that the group will be able to enjoy. To reach the most people interested in Mexican food, tacos, and taco Tuesday, hashtags were used on those key words.

The way that this group is going to be successful is directly dependent on the amount of people who join and engage. This group is review based sort of like a Miami Facebook Yelp, therefore, the users share the content with each other. To call the attention of more Miami locals to join the group, the post below was posted in a private group with over two-thousand users called Things to Do in Miami and South Beach. Joining other Miami communities that have members that might be interested in joining Miami Food Vice and posting similar content, has been attracting some locals to join.

Also, a conversation about success on social media platforms would not be complete without mentioning influencers. Influencers have a wonderful reach and audience that is essential to gain exposure in social media. Therefore, to reach even more possible new members, we reached out to Secret Miami. Secret Miami has over twenty-thousand followers and tells them about all the best Miami tips. Getting featured on their page or interacting with them, would attract many Miami locals.
